Program of Industrial Engineering

 

I.Training objectives

The major aims at training high quality engineers and technical talents with comprehensive basic theory and specialized knowledge of Industrial Engineering, and with the overall development of moral, intellectual, physical and aesthetics education, with the solid basic theory, the reasonable knowledge structure, and with adaptable, innovative and entrepreneurial spirit and practical ability. Students are expected to be high quality applied talents able to plan, design, evaluate and innovate in industrial engineering field. The following objectives should be achieved through about five years’ study:

1. Having good basic knowledge of mathematics and natural science, and having quality of humanities, professional ethics, with a sense of social responsibility;

2. Mastering basic theory and professional knowledge in industrial engineering field, having innovative consciousness and ability of engineering practice, such as plan, design, implementation, optimization, assessment and innovation of production and service system;

3. Having the ability of literature and material search, keeping track of current situation and development trend of the frontier of the industrial engineering field;

4. Having the ability of expression and communication and ability of team cooperation, organization and management;

5. Having the consciousness of lifelong learning and having the ability to keep on learning and adapt to development;

6. Having international perspective and foreign application ability.

II.Requirements

1. Mastering the theoretical and technical foundation in industrial engineering and the analytical methods and management technology of production, management, and service system, etc. 

2. Having the ability of comprehensive application of the theory of science and technology knowledge and technical methods for the system expression of industrial engineering problems, the establishment of model, analysis, solution and demonstration.

3. Having the basic skills to analyze and solve the practical problems, do scientific research, and develop new system and product;

4. Having the ability to analyze complex engineering problems, such as data processing, performance evaluation, and revises and improvement in engineering project management and production process, etc. based on scientific theory and methods.

5. Mastering the basic knowledge and skills in industrial engineering, including design, plan, computes analysis and evaluate, with the strong application skills of computer technology engineering;

6. Grasping a good knowledge of humanities and social sciences, with a good quality of humanities, a strong sense of social responsibility and good engineering ethics. Having broad knowledge, including the knowledge of social problems in modern society, to understand the influence of industrial engineering on the world and society. Having certain abilities of organization and management, expression, writing, interpersonal communication and playing a role in the team, and having international perspective, and the ability of cross-cultural communication, competition and cooperation.

7. Having good consciousness in economy, quality, safety, efficiency, environment protection and sustainable development, law, ethics and service, and having the ability to deal with the crisis and unexpected events.

8. Having the quality of humanities and art, and social responsibility, and having the ability to understand and comply with engineering ethics and standards and fulfill responsibilities in engineering practice;

9. Having the ability to play a role of individual, member and leader in the multidisciplinary team.

10. With certain international perspective and cross-cultural background, having the ability to effectively communicate with industry peers and public on complex industrial engineering problems, including report writing, script designing, presentation, clear expression, and indication response.

11. Having the ability to understand, master and apply engineering management and policy method, playing a role, based on multidiscipline of industrial engineering.

12. Having a correct understanding of lifelong learning, and having the ability to keep on learning and adapt to development.

IIICore courses

Operation research, System engineering, Management principles, Advanced manufacturing technology, Human factor engineering, Basics of Industrial Engineering, Management statistics, Facility planning and logistics system, Machinofacture technology, Production planning and control, Database technology, Basics of Mechanical Design, etc.
